So, it's been a minute since I've posted here.  I have been busy learning this new trade.  Machine Embroidery........  Now being January 19, 2019, I have been learning this new fun thing since June 2018, so about 6 months.

I have had probably the most fun I have ever had.  I have the Brother PE 780D.  AWESOME Machine with little fuss.  Remember, I knew NOTHING about machine embroidery before my mom basically......... MADE ME borrow her machine and try it out.

Since June............after after only about a 2 hour "HOW TO" course she gave me on how to use this thing........  I have been off and running.  I am not one to really think outside the box.......... which probably explains why I am a poor, financially challenged crafter.  But this has totally opened me up in ways I never imagines.  I have ZERO fear of this machine or what it can do.  I keep going, trying new designs, even creating my own simple designs with an affordable Sew What Pro.  This program has no big frills and the downside?  You can't digitize.  BUT, you can do anything else pretty much, alter designs, resize designs, create your own.  It is perfect!
What really surprised me about this new business aspect of my plethora of crafting fun.  I literally started making money from co-workers immediately.  This was surprising to me......  being so profitable so quickly.  There is a real demand for personalized, fun, and pretty designs.   I had no idea.  Call me a bit slow.........

So due to all this activity, I have moved into our only office/guest bedroom.  Yep, I got rid of the bed and moved in.  It is so nice having room to work.......

So basically, I would highly recommend the Brother PE 700 or above.  It's easy in every way.  Also Sew What Pro is the perfect program for a hobbyist, not necessarily a pro shop.  Check my facebook page for current activity.  Also my website for current other areas I work in.

Beginning Embroidery Brother PE 780D

Beginning Embroidery Brother PE 780D
My Experience thus far........

In case you may have missed my Facebook page announcement, I am about 10 weeks in on my new adventure doing machine embroidery.   I never really had interest myself, or really understood what it was.....  it looked so complicated.

So, my mom kinda pushed me to bring this spare machine home and just try it......see if I liked it.  After a quick crash course on how to use it........  I was off and running.  Literally, this machine is so easy to use and really works hard.

I have been amazed at the quality of designs it turns out.  My mom started with the Brother PE 780D with the Disney package.  And yes, the Disney embroidery images are high quality and nobody would know you didn't buy these at an actual Disney store or park.

There are dozens of sites where you can purchase designs, including Etsy.  Many of the sites also have free designs.

If anyone is easily overwhelmed by a sewing machine, surprisingly you may find this easier.  Now, with that said, there are just a few little trouble shooters I was advised to know.  So if you are sewing along and it starts to choke and sputter I have discovered the fix-its are pretty easy and routine. Which I'll discuss in another post soon.

Believe it or not if your not a.............crafty type.......but your great with color and design this is the hobby for you.  One of the funnest things I have found is the colors.........  You could literally make the same embroidery design a dozen times and make each one entirely different with colors.

I also.......seeing that I am frugal, did a lot of  snooping around for an embroidery program.  I could not afford a professional program for several hundred dollars, which is fantastic for those who are looking to do speciality and maybe business custom items.   But I ended up finding the right software for my needs SewWhat-Pro for $65, this is lifetime not yearly.  Easy and fast download and tools are easy to use and learn by way of YouTube.

And NO!  You don't need a huge work area to have one of these fun machines.  I literally have a room the size of some people's closets, and it suits my needs fine right now.   Now, figure this machine cost a little extra w/Disney, if you get it without you will be maybe under $700.  Brother has other models as well. I encourage you to try anyone of them and I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Image result for easter again

I have not been in here for a very long time.....   No real reason other than work and life in general.  But, now is time to get back to what I know, enjoy, and is good therapy...... being creative.

Since relocating, I have found that I struggle with decorating.  This may sound weird, but when you decorate its a branding of yourself.  I haven't struggled before, not sure why now.  So, I've been in a rut.

Me and mom will be putting together some items for sale over the next 6 months.  We will be specializing in handmade items made of fabric.  There will be something for everybody, so I encourage everyone to check back.   We will also be looking to get a website up where purchases can be made online.

With tomorrow being Easter Sunday, there is much to be grateful for.  ALWAYS..........

Who doesn't love a bargain....

So, we are now headed into the last month of the summer.  School clothes are a must and school supplies are being sold in stores.  Since my last post I have been working a new job, so my creativity has been on the back burner.  However, I always get struck by the ol' "Christmas in July" thought.  This seems to begin my thoughts of the holidays and seeking out ideas of what I can make and give over the holiday season.

I have spent a lot of time on Pinterest today, and I need that to get inspired.  There are so many talented and clever minds at work out there, many of whom may not realize it.  But I am gearing up.  Needing to devote some time each week to my creative therapy.

I did have an unexpected surprise in being commissioned to provide wedding jewelry for a co-worker.  I also designed her bridal set.  This was fun, as I had not dabbled in my jewelry for a long time.  It has inspired me to update my https://www.etsy.com/shop/Cottageon37th page and provide some fresh ideas.

The bridal set is above and turned out very nice.  Large AB acrylic beads with fire polish crystals and crystal rondels.  Also the bracelet/earring sets for the maid of honor as shown here, and 5 other sets that were a bit more modest for bridesmaids.  These were made with acrylic beads, pink coral, Turquoise chips, as well as glass beads.  Turned out perfect!

The Cottage is in full swing for 2016

2016 is off to a good start at the Cottage.

Yesterday I began my creativity at the Cottage on 37th.  With having a regular work schedule once again and Saturdays for myself, I am starting strong.

Over the Christmas holiday my mom showed me how to make these fun cosmetic bags.  These fully lined, zipper bags with writslet they are a handy must for any girl or woman.  I am beginning to not only stock up gifts for next Christmas, but also making some to sell on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/happigirlgifts/?ref=hl and Etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/Cottageon37th?ref=search_shop_redirect.

Very fun, next I will be making pillow cases.  So much fun!

Today at the Cottage on 37th

What a beautiful fall day at the cottage.  Nearly 60 degrees, sunny, and calm.  It was a great day for getting out the sewing machine and start sewing up some new items.  My beautiful lap/toddler quilt I made with my mom during the first of the year.  All of my quilts are original designs made with 100% cotton fabrics.

The cute headbands I made, recycling a mans button up shirt and accenting it with a 12 gage shotgun shell.  Awesome addition for that country chic.  These headbands are also hand made and all three are for sale on my Etsy site.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/Cottageon37th .

With Thanksgiving fast approaching I will be adding new gift items to Etsy.  There will be a variety of handmade items.
